Some memories:
My first exposure to Alaska... what a beautiful clear day. (I was able to see Denali from my seat on the plane.) A few more miles down the road and we encounter Beluga Whales!
Our first nights campsite:
We found bear tracks in the sand as well as a dead salmon... Luckily we had a quite night.
Enter the rain... it really didn't stop until we made it to Denali National Park.
We took a 5 hour boat tour of Resurrection Bay where we were able to see some more of Kenai Fjords National Park. Including Bear Glacier, some endangered Stellar Sea Lions, a Puffin, and a couple of eagles. It was very windy and wavy. 75mph winds and 8-10 ft. wave swells. I definitely tested out my sea legs.
On the deck before the storm hit... I felt like a real sailor after that ride!
Yes they really are that blue color.
As close to a moose as I have
ever been.
Our campsite in Homer on the spit. We see Harbor Seals, Sea Otters, Jellyfish, Star Fish, and Eagles here. This night it felt like a hurricane was coming through.
Across the bay is Katchemack State Park. We never saw the tips of the Mountains due to the misty, rainy fog.
Denali National Park:
It is peak color season!
We hiked to the top of Primrose Ridge next to the Savage River.
The view from the top.
Dahl sheep and Caribou!!
Our bed for the night. We were hoping to catch the Aurora Borealis... but no luck. We did however wake up to a beautiful sunrise and a clear view of Denali off in the distance.
What a trip! A hike down the back side of the ridge, and following the river back to the road. We ended our trip with a sighting of two grizzly bears and a rainbow.
